Help with Lie Adjustment

The eFit lie angle adjustment is based on the golfer's wrist to floor measurement. If you would like details on how to measure the distance between the golfer's wrist and the floor Click here.

Locate the column based on the golfers height used in the previous step. Follow the column down until it intersects with the golfer's wrist to floor measurement.

For Example, a man who is 6 feet, 2 inches tall and has a wrist to floor measurement of 35 and 3/4 inches should increase the lie angle of his irons 1 degree. A women who is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and has a wrist to floor measurement of 30 and 1/4 inches should decrease the lie angle of her clubs by 2 degrees.

This adjustment will make the sole of the club parallel with the ground at address and impact. A golfer with clubs that are too upright will have a tendency to hook or pull the ball left. While those with overly flat lies will tend to block or slice the ball right. (The previous examples assume the golfer is right handed.)

The above example also assumes the golfer has made a swing that would have gone straight except for an incorrect lie angle. In other words, occasionally a player's swing faults will cause effects far greater than those produced by the lie angle. Sometimes, these effects result in lost golf balls. However, getting the best lie angle for your height and build is a step on a path that can eventually lead to scratch golf.
